The delicate and minimalistic design of the iPhone is just one of the reasons why many people consider that device is something to have. However, as the iPhone only has a few buttons, if one of them fails, can cause several headaches.

Option 1: Here is how you can start your iPhone without power button: By Charging

Do not rush to replace your iPhone off with the power button or broken lock: you can turn it back on by simply plugging it into the charging cable.

The buttons that usually wear out and stop working are like no, the HOME button par excellence and secondly the POWER button. In this post we will explain how to do to turn on and turn off your iPhone if you break the POWER button and do not want to go through the box in the technical service.

If you are an unconditional user of the iPhone , you would be on your nerves if overnight the POWER button will stop working . Normally the buttons that the iPhone has stop working gradually according to the use you give it, since at the end of the day they are non-tactile mechanical buttons and have their wear.

Like all mechanical buttons, as their use increases, so does their wear. In the iPhone the button that is usually broken more is HOME, although sometimes with a simple re calibrated it fixes the problem. In addition, if this button is broken, there is still a possibility through the touch interface of the screen since Apple has installed in the system within the accessibility settings the AssistiveTouch .

Option 2: Here is how you can start your iPhone without power button: Assistive Touch

It consists of activating the functions of the button on the screen so that we do not have to press on it. To activate this system go to Settings / General / Accessibility / AssistiveTouch.

Once activated, from now on a semitransparent circle will accompany us through all the windows of our iPhone. We can change it and place it where it less annoys us simply by dragging it.

So far so good, since both to power on and off and suspend the iPhone, the button that is used is the POWER.

Now, what if the POWER button breaks? At first glance the first thing you will think is that you either go through the technical service or change your mobile. Well we tell you not to rush and keep reading this post so you see that not everything is lost.

In order to turn off an iPhone without using the POWER button, simply enter the Assistive Touch, press on the Device. And in the new screen that exits click on Lock screen if you want to turn off the screen, and if you want to turn off the cell phone, press and hold the icon for a while until the phone turns off.

On the other hand, to turn on the mobile, the only thing we can do is use the charger cable. When we connect the mobile phone to charge it will automatically turn on, so you do not need to press POWER to turn it on.

What to do if the home button on your iPhone stops working?

There are few that during the lifetime of your iPhone do not suffer any failure in the home button . We show you some simple tricks to try to improve its operation or, if necessary, continue to use your iPhone even with the broken home button .

    1: Introduction

The terminals of Apple stand out, among other factors, for the care of its design and the high quality of its materials, although they are not free of other weaknesses or problems. Among them, failures in the start button or home button are among the most recurring problems.

If we think about it, the iPhone home button does a hard job every day: going back to the start menu, quitting the applications, activating Siri or accessing the list of open apps, are just some of its most habitual uses, gestures that are they perform recurrently several times each day.

If you have problems with your home button , or this has stopped working, and your iPhone is out of the warranty period , there are some small tricks you can do to try to improve its operation.

    2: Lack of response

If what you perceive is erratic functioning or lack of response, it is possible that it is a simple mismatch of software. This usually happens to people who do not usually turn off the phone. To calibrate the home basin , just follow a couple of simple steps:

    1. Start any native application (on iOS 7 it works well with the spool, calendar or messages), and press the power button until the power off bar appears.
    2. Release the power off button, and then hold down the home button until the screen blinks and the initial application screen is displayed.

    3: Disables 3-Click functions

If after the calibration process you still notice lag or delay in the response of the home button, try to deactivate the functions of the third click, since it usually slows down the response of the start button:

    1. Sign in Settings / General / Accessibility / Guiad access or on and off, should be, this option. The Guided Access is a little known feature , which is enabled with the third click the home button – that allows you to block certain areas of an application that is not useful in everyday use.
    2. Then go back to the Accessibility screen and go to Quick Start and make sure all options are disabled. After this you should notice a substantial improvement in the response of your home button. This process can be done even if your home button has no problems.

    4: Cleaning

If following the steps above, and once you have completed a complete restoration of youriPhone , you still notice the same problems. It is very likely that it is a physical defect .

In this case you can try, very carefully, the old trick of pouring a couple of drops of isopropyl alcohol on the home button and pressing it to lightly filter with the help of a stick.

This helps to eliminate possible dirt and can be effective, although we do not recommend it to an iPhone 5S , as we do not know how it would fit your peculiar fingerprint sensor .

    5: Assistive Touch

If in spite of everything you have not managed to solve anything, or definitively your home button has stopped working , there is a last alternative, the Assistive Touch . A virtual button that allows to perform the functions of home button by pressing on the screen.

    1. Enter Settings / General / Accessibility / Assistive Touch and activate it. You will notice that a small translucent picture appears with a white circle inside it at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Pressing Assistive Touch you will have access to a menu of options among which is the virtual home button . In addition to access to Siri, Favorites and, by pressing., A second menu with options such as raising and lowering the volume, lock the screen or mute the phone, among others. All of them with pulsations in the screen without having to resort to the physical buttons of the iPhone .
    3. When activated, the Assistive Touch is located at the bottom right of the screen, but you can position it wherever you want by simply dragging it.
