Now move up a folder (to the root folder) in ES File Explorer and you will see a directory called data. Navigate to data/misc/wifi folder and you will find a file named wpa_supplicant.conf. Tap on the file to open it up and make sure you use ES File Explorer ‘s built-in text/HTML viewer for the task.
n the file you should be able to see the network SSID and their passwords next to it. You can now search for the SSID (network name) and note down the password next to it and close the file.
Please make sure that you don’t edit the file or you might start having problems with your Wi-Fi connectivity. There are a certain number of apps listed in the Play Store for the task but it’s better to use this manual method to get the passwords than to install that adware crap.

How to Recover Forgotten Wi-Fi Password via the Router
If you don't have access to your Windows PC or Mac Pc, which is connected to Wi-Fi, then you can still find your saved Wi-Fi password by using your router or modem. But, keep in mind that this method will only work, if you are connected to router's network and you should have access to Tablet or mobile phone.
Steps vary for each router, so please read the router manual first.
- Open your browser and go to the router's local address - http://192.168.1.1 - it varies depending on the make of the router, so check the manual (or the official website) to find the correct address.
- Now you have to Enter the username and password for your router.
- Again, this is different for each manufacturer.
- Both the username and password are "admin" without the quotes (other routers often have "password" without quotes as the default password) .
- You'll have to check with the router manufacturer or ISP if this combinations don't work.
- Click Internet and then click Wireless.
- In some routers the Wireless option may be visible on the main screen.
- In this section you'll see the security type (WEP, WPA, etc.) and the key. Some routers may have these options under a Security tab.
The box next to the key field contains the password for the Wi-Fi network.
